Cupcake Menagerie

Jackson’s First Birthday Party

IMG_0541

Our friends, Jill and Cory’s adorable son Jackson turned 1 last week and we all gathered on Saturday for his festive and lively celebration. The circus theme was perfect for the most elaborate, insane baking project I had ever contemplated attempting and I begged Jill to let me make the treats for the party.

I recently purchased the awesome Hello Cupcake and of course decided to cannon ball straight into the deep end with a big top cupcake circus.  In the book, they describe it as one of their most adventurous projects, but special birthdays call for love and dedication.  I rolled up my sleeves and started making monkeys.

Elephants too.  Their trunks did not want to stay put…despite threats of pachydermal violence on my part.

The party was merry.  The food was delish.  And I’ve never been so thankful for the offering of adult beverages at a gathering before.  I deserved that Bud Light Lime.

If you want to check out more great photos of the party, cupcakes and the birthday boy, go to Jill and Cory’s blog, Wee Magnito.  Jill takes amazing photographs and the blog is a priceless documentation of all of Jackson’s milestones.
